Resumen

Hard work is key to success. It may sound clichéd, but the release of the first edition of this new Journal of the Foot & Ankle (JFA) takes this concept very seriously. For years, many of us have dedicated our efforts to bringing this new journal into being. Without hard work, and putting everything into the venture, this new path would have been impossible. Ask any of those who participated in this project, and they’ll tell you of the countless meetings, discussions and collaborations that went into producing this united journal! Politics. It works in the end!

Now we need to stay ahead of the curve, not looking to the past. But there’s still a long way to go!

Anticipating the progression of knowledge to develop new answers to specific critical needs - now with a united front, it’s time to focus on an even higher quality of research.

Our vision is to conduct research that will enable greater understanding on selected topics, and to apply the results of this research, to meet the needs of advanced technology in our united Society.

Our motto “Innovation–JFA” is embodied in two steps: Conduct research, and publish the results.

We are starting out with this new dilemma: “Where are we going and how do we plan to get there?” What is our clear and measurable goal for what we want to accomplish?

In other words, what is our objective, and how should we measure progress along the way, in order to achieve indexing for our journal, produce high quality research, and encourage researchers to publish the results of their work in JFA. All that is no easy task.

We’re great believers in working as a team towards to a common goal, and we are sure that with our dedicated colleagues, and the help of all our participating researchers on Foot and Ankle Surgery, we will bring our vision into reality! Let’s get our journal onto the list of indexed journals!

Here’s to the new venture. We hope you enjoy reading it.
