Abstract

Objective: To assess the results of patients with acute closed rupture of the Achilles tendon treated by percutaneous repair. Methods: Twenty-one patients underwent the procedure, being 19 male (90.5%) and 11 with the left side affected (52.4%). The age varied between 23 and 63 years (mean age of 40.8 years) and the follow-up varied from 7 to 97 months (mean follow-up 45.2 months). Results: The results were classified in satisfactory and unsatisfactory, according to a postoperative functional questionnaire, evaluation of surgical complications and physical examination. We achieved 100% satisfactory results. Conclusion: The results were evenly good. The surgical technique is somewhat simple, cheap, safe and reproducible. There were no postoperative complications.
