Objective: To access clinical and functional results after the surgical treatment of the tarsometatarsal joint fracture dislocations (Lisfranc injuries), using The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score. Methods: We selected 17 patients treated at Hospital do Trabalhador, at Curitiba (PR), Brazil, from 1998 to 2010, with mean age of 31.5 years, all sustaining midfoot trauma with Lisfranc fracture dislocation. They were reassessed after a mean follow-up of 31.5 months. Results: High-energy trauma was involved in 82% of the cases, and the traffic trauma was the cause of 41% of the cases. Closed reduction and percutaneus fixation were performed in 2 patients (11.7%); 13 patients (76.6%) were submitted to open reduction and internal fixation; and arthrodesis characterized 2 cases (11.7%). Mean scoring according to AOFAS midfoot scale was 68.9 points. Results unsatisfactory were associated with open fractures, high-energy trauma and those who had complications of the surgical treatment. There were no difference between the clinical evaluation and the method of reduction. Conclusion: Poor clinical results were observed in open fractures, high-energy trauma and complications. Patients without complications had satisfactory results and good evaluation according to AOFAS score, in agreement with the literatureDownloads
