Abstract

In cases of post-traumatic subtalar arthrosis where calcaneal pitch loss exists, there may be impingement of the anterior ankle, which should be corrected by subtalar arthrodesis with an en bloc grafting. The graft is traditionally removed from the iliac bone or an allograft is employed. The author’s proposal is to use the calcaneus posterosuperior apophysis as a source of a bone block graft. The technique exempts an additional incision or the need of a bone bank, and does not increase the procedural morbidity.
