Abstract

A seventy-year-old male patient, with pain in the postero-inferior aspect of the right medial malleolus foot, in the past four years, without trauma history. He was diagnosed with tarsal-tunnel syndrome and the magnetic resonance imaging detected three rounded tumors in the tibialis posterior nerve and its lateral plantar branch, and the upper one was inside the tarsal tunnel. Surgically excised, the histological analysis revealed multiple plexiform schwannomas of the tibial nerve. The patient’s symptoms were completely resolved. This is a rare case in the literature due to its location and multiplicity. In the literature review, no previous descriptions of this type of lesion were found.
