Osteosíntesis mínimamente invasiva del maleolo peroneo

Abstract

Background: The fractures of the third distal of the fibula are the most common bone injury of the ankle. The goal of this study is to evaluate the minimally invasive technique for the treatment of these fractures. Material and methods: A prospective analyses of forty-two patients were study. All of them had closed ankle fractures, type AOB. Mean age was 51,8 years old. 20 males and 22 females. The follow up average was 31.2 months. Treatment: Minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis were used. Results: The average of hospitalization was 8,7 hours. The pain in the postoperative fin ish before the th ird day. The mean time of the bone union was 38,2 days. The weight-bearing average was 36,9 days. Conclusions: MIPPO fixation of the distal fibula, increased the union of the bone, and showed to need less time of hospitalization. Also, improve the comfort in the postoperative treatment. However there was more exposition to the fluoroscopy.
