Abstract

Primary fixation with screws or plates or primary arthrodesis are considered the gold-standardsurgical treatments for Lisfranc injuries. However, drawbacks of these procedures includeloss of joint motion, need for later hardware removal and the potential for cartilage damage byintra-articular screws. Interosseous suture buttons can be used as an alternative technique forfixation of Lisfranc lesions, potentially overcoming the disadvantages associated with the traditionaltechniques. In this report, we describe the operative technique for fixation of Lisfranc injuries withthe use of suture buttons, and we present a case successfully treated with this device.
