Técnica híbrida para la correción de hallux valgus moderado y severo

Abstract

lntroduction: The hallux valgus is one of the most common orthopaedic diseases. The overall goal of the different techniques is to restore a physiological metatarsal-phalangic and inter-metatarsal angle with the most stable osteotomy possible and with the lesser pain postoperative. The Scarf osteotomy is versatile and easy to fix, it provides an initial stability to the patients and with the complementation of the Akins'osteotomy, for the correction of hallux valgus interphalangeus, and the correction can be adapted to different kinds of hallux deform ities. Material and method: A prospective observational study was conducted, patients with moderate to severe hallux valgus deformity treated by hybrid technique from may 2006 to december 2007. All the results were analized using SPSS 13.0 program. Results: thirty three patients completed a 24 month follow up, were analized. Ninety one percent (n=30) were women. The mean age was 54.97 + 11 .79 years, 12 rights (35,3%) and 22 lefts (64,7%). A0FAS preoperative 48.02 t 10.9S to 88.50 t8.19 postoperative (p < 0.002), EVAD from 8.76 t1 .44 preoperative to 2.06 t1.99 postoperative (p<0.048). Conclusions: The Scarf osteotomy provides a stable and adequate correction, with a small skin incision benefiting the cosmetic results with less pain, and with a minimal of com plications. ln association with a percuta neous Akin osteotomy, it is a good alternative for the treatrnent of moderate to severe hallux valgus.
