Objective: To evaluate the clinical, functional outcomes and complications in the treatment of advanced hallux rigidus (stage III) by arthrodesis with low-profile plate. Methods: Analysis of retrospective descriptive study conducted from february 2006 to december 2008 (23 arthrodesis) and new retrospective study from july 2009 to December 2013 (35 arthrodesis). A total of 58 hallux rigidus (72% female, 65, stage III) underwent surgery using low-profile plate. Gender, age, previous techniques, AOFAS, satisfaction and complications are analyzed. Results: The most common complication is due to metatarsalgia. High percentage of satisfied patients and very satisfied. In both studies appeared a favorable increase in the postsurgical AOFAS scale. Conclusion: We propose the use of low-profile plate as a valid technique for the treatment of hallux rigidus stage III.
