Objetive: The authors compare in anatomical and histopathological vision, the events in the healing of acutely injured Achilles tendons in two groups of rats. With and without the use of PRP respectively. Methods: We use 18 Wistar rats, where 5 were sacrificed to obtain PRP, 7 underwent surgical sections of his Achilles tendons and where treated with PRP and 6 underwent the same surgical sectoin, however not received the PRP. And we study the appearance of the surgical wound, and the Achille’s histopathology of representatives from both groups, in four differents postoperative periods of time. Results: A better infammatory response/repair in the groups treated with PRP was observed. Conclusions: The utilization of PRP means for faster and better healing of acute Achilles tendons. And this may serve as a stimulus for further studies in humans.
